I Not buy more this shit!
Dude just wanted an increased realistic touch to it (maybe there's a mod for that?) , not mind-blowing plot twist Ender's Game style, these "not-asked" care for little things is what makes a good game, most of the time
It sounds like you expect absolute 100% immersion and realism, like some Ender's Game where you eventually find out the entire game was not a simulation and you were commanding actual armies.
And yes, I agree DLCs have been hit and miss, the latest one ToA being unnecessary as it only brings content you can find in free mods; but at least the DLCs have some actual content, compared to what most other developers do to monetize their games with lootboxes.
