I have not been able to get past the initlal area of the game with Christof, I have gotten a companion, who does not fight very well, but its just so ball-achingly hard I keep dying to the monster in the demolished house in the city

I've managed to keep Christof and Serena's humanity pretty decent so far, but somehow Wilhem is down to like 5 humanity. I just accidentally picked a fight with some soldiers and we ended up killing them and Wilhem lost it, went permanent frenzy and froze the game. Is there a way to get him some humanity back? I know for Christof there are conversation choices he can make, but what about other coterie members? Am I going to have to tiptoe around Wilhem for the whole rest of the game to make sure he do...
