Manhunt Windows and Linux Fix

Finally it's alive,I mean it works on latest Windows 10/11 builds.The Ultimate Manhunt fix for Windows 10 and 11 PC version of the game is here!
NB! This fix uses Vulkan API wrappers, in order for it to work your GPU must have support for Vulkan API, this includes NVIDIA/AMD GPU's,Intel integrated older gens don't support Vulkan API,but if you have a dual GPU laptop,just force the NVIDIA/AMD as a main GPU for this game in their Control Panels.Enjoy the classic!
Added Linux Fix with Proton.

How to get Manhunt working on Windows 10:

0.Go to Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features>Turn Windows Features on or off>Legacy Components>Enable Direct Play and .NET 3.5 Framework support

1. Install Manhunt through Steam

2.Fixing the gate bug and other crashes:

# NB!Currently based on user feedback there are more folders in this fix:

* Download and extract all the files from this link corresponding to your Windows 10 build and GPU: https://github.com/silentgameplays/Manhunt-fix-Windows-10/

* Copy paste the requires files from the required folder into the Manhunt Directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Manhunt

3.Run the Manhunt Fix.bat file

4.Disabling audio sound loops completely by removing audio:
Manually:

-Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Manhunt\audio\PC\SCRIPTED\PORN folder and find the file named PORN.RIB and change it to something like p0rn.RIB
-Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Manhunt\audio\PC\SCRIPTED\CRAPPER folder and find the file named CRAPPER.RIB and change it to something like [email protected]
-Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Manhunt\audio\PC\SCRIPTED\CRAPPER folder and find the file named CRAPPER.RIB and change it to something like [email protected]

# NB! For Dual GPU laptops ONLY!EXPERIMENTAL,might not work in some cases:

1. Download everything extract.

2. Copy all files from Reshade Dual GPU's Laptops folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Manhunt

3. Go to your NVIDIA Control Panel>3D Settings>Global find the preferred GPU and set it to NVIDIA

4. Run the Manhunt Fix.bat file

5. Enjoy

YOU NEED TO INSTALL THIS FIX ON A FRESH CLEAN INSTALL OF THE GAME. PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ISSUES! Thank you!

1. Uninstall Manhunt through Steam
2. Delete the main folder Manhunt,location C:\Program
Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\
3. Install the game again,download the fix again
4. Extract, Copy/Paste into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Manhunt
5. Run the Manhunt Fix.bat file
6. Launch the game

For recovering save games before doing all the above (skip if no saves)

1. Find this folder location User\Documents\Manhunt User Files\SaveGames\ Copy/Paste your previous saved games from there files usually look like this MANHUNT0.SAV.(skip if no saves)

After doing the fresh install launch the game at least once,launch a new game,quit (skip if no saves)

2.Find this folder,location User\Documents\Manhunt User Files\SaveGames\ Copy/Paste your previous saved games files usually look like this MANHUNT0.SAV (skip if no saves)

That's it,you are good to go,enjoy the game.

# NB Audio Fix Has been removed from the main fix and placed into a separate repository https://github.com/silentgameplays/Manhunt-Fix-Alternative due to reports of false positives from Virus Total,related to using the ThirteenAG's dinput8.dll wrapper and ermaccers AudioFix.asi required for the audio fix to work,use at your own risk if you want functional audio in game and/or if you require the ThirteenAG's Widescreen Patch.

Manhunt Fix Linux

1. Install mangohud for your distro

2. Install Manhunt through Steam

3. Go into Manhunt folder and rename manhunt.exe to manhunt.exe.old

4. Rename testapp.exe into manhunt.exe

5. Go to Steam>Manhunt>Compatibility>General>Launch Options

6. MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=60,no_display" mangohud %command%

Glorious Eggroll, latest tested with this fix was 9.7.

Drunken Ape You can try,the manhunt fix bat patch will work if executed under wine, but for 60 FPS limit you will need to use something like libstrangle.

humam2105 The wrong model is ok as long as it plays,it is an opensource wine wrapper fix that just requires support of Vulkan API from your GPU RX 6800 XT should run it just fine Ermaccers fixer uses a Directx 9 API wrapper,but if it works for you then it is also a great option

Dora da explora' This fix only works with Steam version not with the pirated version of Manhunt.

I'm having the same exact issue as @humam2105
This didn't happen before in my old laptop though, the patch worked just fine then

I tried this fix but it doesn't really work. I tried the other patch from Manhunt fixer and it worked just fine. Maybe because I have an AMD 6800 XT GPU? I tried all the steps you mentioned but still couldn't fix the game, the game started with a black screen and when selecting the resolution it showed the wrong model of my GPU

emily_008 No need for cloning, although it is the dev way to do it, everything is showed in the video, just push the Green Button to get the zip file in the browser, it literally says Download Zip at the bottom.

And it works if your GPU supports Vulkan API this fix is based on Vulkan. If you are having trouble there is ermaccer's Manhunt fix for everything that is not based on Vulkan API and has a point and click installation.

Also you will need to enable 3.5 NET Framework Support and Direct Play on Windows 10/11 for it to work.
