Space Marine 2 isn't just good, it is phenomenal. It is one of the best action games ever made. I cannot recommend it enough. If you missed old-school games where you just played the game, it's for you. There are no absurd skill trees, open worlds, or other BS, just pure game. I missed that.

If you don't know about Warhammer, don't worry. You don't need to know anything about it. But I would recommend watching a short recap of the first game because it's direct sequel.
the negative reviews are absolutely retarded. Epic services is for crossplay, restart your pc if you're crashing (common sense), an fov slider isnt a requirement and its not worth refunding your game for, but it would be nice to have. AND TAA IS NOT FORCED. USE NATIVE AND IT DOESNT CHANGE ANYTHING.
the only fair complaint is no ultrawide support, but again thats not really game ruining but can definitely be a disappointment.

Mixed on release because people are valve shills who hate epic, or they're too stupid to read or reset their pc.
I'm looking forward to checking out Eternal War (the PvP mode) now that the game has launched to the general public. All in all it's just a fun game you should get together with the boys and play (or just ride a bunch of cool elevators together, there are a lot in this game).

Note: The 21:9 support wasn't in when I tried it yet, so hoping that comes in the Day 1 patch, as well as a fov slider. I know you want us to feel like big hulking dudes right in the mix, but letting us pull out JUST a little bit might be good so I can see more of the big beautiful world of Warhammer.
Currently waiting on PVP. I'll come back with an update... but for now, great game, I didn't run into any major issues, all of the classes are fun (and will be funner when a few small bugs are fixed). Emailed the devs and they mentioned a few of the bugs that I had submitted have already been addressed. I'll report back with my findings.

EDIT: I have a lot of hours played, and I wanted to clarify that it's a lot of grinding. You don't have to do it, obvious, but if you want to get everything, it's a long fun road. If not, campaign + operations 1x each is probably about 10 hours give or take.

EDIT: For people asking how I got so many hours. I was in the preview and then review builds, which have been up for almost a month, give or take. I helped some people capture footage for their youtube videos.

So far this is the freshest breath of fresh air in the genre in years.

The good:

* The setting: while the feel pulls various aspects from other media, it combines them in a way that doesn't seem quite like anything else I've seen before - think Bioshock Infinite goes to Victorian-adjacent France with a dreamier version of the typical weirdness of a Fromsoft setting.

* The story and characters: I knew a tiny bit from pre-release content, but I largely avoided it all to see it with new eyes. I was hooked from the very beginning, and I'm twice as hooked after 90 more minutes.

* Music: Every review I've seen mentions this, no need to belabor it, but it's exceptional.

* Graphics and, at least for me, performance: whenever a game drops that gets substantial complaints about performance, I take my happy 2060 TI ass and set everything to ultra to see just how bad it could be. And I'm often pleasantly surprised. Did I drop it back down to high for framerate purposes? Yes, but this graphics card is half my older son's age. Not to dismiss anyone else's experience, but for me at least ... it's fine. And it's beautiful!

* Combat: The basic systems work really well, and the active defending is challenging and satisfying.

* UI: Super polished. Much, much simpler and cleaner than Metaphor, but just as well done in my opinion.

* Progression: I don't know much at this point obviously, but what it's hinted at through the menus I've seen so far looks like it could be medium-deep. Like golden age SNES JRPG deep. Not Disgaea, but not Baby's First Introduction to Experience Points either.

Could be better:

* Combat: the QTE attack button presses seem extraordinarily forgiving so far, enough of a stark contrast with the precision defending requires to make it feel offputting.

* I don't know, something about the speed and animation of the sprint feels off compared to the feel of the rest of the game. It's about 15% too fast. Which isn't a complaint I usually have. Yes, this is a nitpick, but that's what I've got for negatives so far.

Bottom line: if you're on the fence, jump on over that fence and see if you don't decide it's worth 45 bucks in the first two hours. If you're skeptical, wait for a content creator you like to review it or something. For me, it's an extraordinarily easy recommendation.

If it gives me 20 hours of gameplay at the quality I've seen so far without any other surprises or innovations, it's a good-to-great, solid RPG. And the ceiling is extraordinarily high - it could easily be a GotY contender, but I've played for 90 minutes, and maybe they've just tricked me. (And apparently all of the gaming media.)
