Nodebuster is neither an idler nor a clicker. It's a short and simple incremental game without really much of a purpose. You have to be active with moving the mouse most of the game so it's not an idler. The game automatically clicks for you so it's not a clicker in the most basic sense. Even so, it's rather fun and addictive, with an ending that you can reach in one sitting after a few hours.

With the majority of the game using only a mouse cursor and a few simple shapes and colors, it's a perfect example of the idea of how a fun concept with a incremental reward system jives with the brain to allow the player to feel that there's actually something going on, and that the time spent playing it is worthwhile.

The Mechanics
Obliterate red and then blue shapes to obtain the associated colorful currency to unlock a skill tree that allows you to obliterate more of them the next iteration of the same. Kill bosses and gradually gain experience to gain yet two more unique currency to further unlock gated skills. Gain access to the cryptocurrency miner in order to yet build your mouse cursor closer to an invincible entity. Eventually try to destroy the basic mechanics of the game through these satisfying power boosts.

Progression is key here. The mathematical modeling behind the game isn't visible in the form of numbers, but by a gradual ability to last longer within each level (called Prestige within the game) to eventually get to the boss, kill the boss and move onto the next level. There are 25 levels total and the boss on each can only be killed one time. Further replays at the previous level no longer loads the boss. Exception is the final level, where the boss reloads no matter how many times you destroy it.

Objectives
Earn money, get stronger; in order to earn more money and get stronger still until you reach the point of singularity and destroy the basic mechanics of the game.

Controls
Mouse only.

Graphics
There's nothing more to it than basic shapes and colors.

Music & Sounds
The sound effects are pretty satisfying even though repetitive. I don't think I paid much attention to the music at all, because of the auditory assault by the sound effects, especially in mid-late game.

Audience
People who have an addictive personalities or those who gain satisfaction from quickly becoming OP in games. It's an easy game to 100% so achievement hunters can easily tackle it start to finish in one sitting.

Pricing
The base price is $2.99 US. It's not hard to commit to it.

Personal Wishlist
End game gets kind of boring when it becomes of an idle game just to earn enough credits to finish the final stages of the game. I don't know how I would add to the game to make this part of the game more interesting and engaging. But I can see some people losing interest by that point and leave without finishing.

Conclusion
I had a good time with this game today, It was strangely satisfying as a mental break after a long work stretch. The developers clearly put it together knowing how to draw in the right type of player. Kudos for using basic graphics to make a fun game that still holds the attention without getting overly tedious. Even though the ending was a bit dull in comparison, it will not detract me from recommending the game.
