Most peaceful place for a long time

Against the Storm makes an immediate impression - it’s one of those rare indie projects where the first encounter lives up to the hype. Even before purchasing, you can sense a unique, tranquil atmosphere that few indie games can claim. From my personal experience, the game is an excellent time-killer; developing a single city can take anywhere from 40 minutes to two hours, but every minute is enjoyable. Fully exploring all the content and unlocking the final seal takes over 100 hours. I haven’t reached that stage yet, and perhaps that’s for the best. There’s no rush, no level-grinding race or competition - instead, you steadily build one city after another, earn upgrades, and progress at your own pace. The difficulty settings are well balanced, offering something for those who enjoy a more hardcore challenge.

The storyline
it’s only subtly hinted at. For some, this might be a downside, but for me, the mere suggestion of a plot is enough - the focus here is on the process of creating and managing cities from scratch rather than on an elaborate narrative.

The gameplay
remains engaging no matter how many hours you invest. Every new city, every discovered clearing, and every in-game event prompts you to think and make interconnected decisions, significantly boosting the game’s replay value, especially for fans of process automation.

The soundtrack
is unobtrusive, even meditative, perfectly capturing the mood of changing seasons.

The graphics
are pleasing, smooth, while the illustrations and unit icons are incredibly beautiful - a huge respect to the artist. A special emphasis is placed on the game's visual style, which perfectly conveys its atmosphere.

The interface
is intuitive, neatly arranged, easy on the eyes, and looks polished, rivaling modern standards. Navigation is straightforward, and the developers have included an excellent in-game guideline to help you with every aspect of the game.

Of course, there are areas that could still be improved and balanced, but overall, the game looks great and is well worth continued support. A special thanks for the Ukrainian localization, and my sincere wishes to the small development team to keep the project alive with fresh ideas and innovative solutions in the future.

My subjective rating is: 8/10.

The game progresses quite quickly thanks to its very linear and straightforward storyline. It’s truly an excellent and underrated project for its time: smooth animation for both movements and facial expressions, and meticulously crafted locations that invite you to linger and explore the details. The studio, as usual, was ahead of its time by utilizing the Crytek engine, especially considering its state back in 2013. The game's atmosphere perfectly captures the spirit of the Roman Empire - particularly appealing if you occasionally ponder of it))

Overall impression: it’s like a good movie for a couple of evenings, as long as you’re not in a hurry to speedrun the game in one session. Given its low price at the moment (even more so when on sale), the game is definitely worth the money.
My personal rating is around 6.5/10

This isn’t Gearbox’s most successful project.
Initially, fans had sky-high expectations thanks to the impressive medieval setting and a striking trailer featuring Babymetal’s music. However, once the game was released, all the hype quickly faded. Developers took a bold step by replacing the traditional open world with an interactive map complete with quests and dungeons - a clear nod to the tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons.

The storyline is delivered in its signature style, full of references and fan-centric quests. Although the gameplay, reminiscent of Borderlands, remains familiar, tedious skirmishes and frankly unsuccessful DLCs—essentially short 10-minute stories with a few difficulty levels—detract somewhat from the overall experience.

Overall, it’s the same well-known Brain Rot Gambling Core Meme shooter where you can happily spend 30–40 hours of gameplay.
My subjective rating is 7/10.

The era of hate is no longer in fashion, Choomba.
At its release in 2020, the game was, to put it mildly, “raw and unplayable.” Over the course of two years, the developers gradually refined it to a point where, although bugs still remained, the improvements allowed us to focus on its strengths.
The latest updates are no longer just like day-one patches fixing packs of issues; instead, they serve as pleasant enhancements to an already solid gameplay experience.
Now, in 2025, the game can be considered perfect in its niche - one of the best.

The storyline
is truly engaging, especially if you’re a fan of the cyberpunk setting. The cinematic presentation and direction are excellent, and most of the characters are fully developed and charismatic, making you naturally form an attachment to them.

The graphics
are top-notch. Developers continue to optimize the visuals and implement cutting-edge features such as DLSS 4 to deliver the highest quality textures, lighting, and reflections (the last two are the main ones in the cyberpunk aesthetic)

The soundtrack
and in-game radio create an amazing atmosphere of futuristic vibes and nostalgia for legendary rock bands.

impressive replayability
That is another standout feature of the game. Even after one playthrough, you won’t uncover everything. With each subsequent run, new story developments, characters, locations, quests, and secrets will reveal themselves. No one forces you to replay just because you missed collecting all the journals in a previous run)

Minor shortcomings include a less vibrant city atmosphere and a police force that seems utterly indifferent to your actions — you could even take on the entire city by yourself. At times, enemy and NPC behavior can be rather absurd. However, these issues are not significant for me.

In short: this is a must-play game.
It offers brilliant, multi-faceted escapism for weeks, maybe months.
A huge thank you to the developers for adding Ukrainian localization. Since the game never disappointed me with its optimization or bugs at launch — in fact, it provided a lot of fun of observing that — and by the time I played, most of the initial bugs had already been fixed,
I confidently rate it 9.8/10.

Kings do not rule forever

Better than this phrase, it is hard to describe the situation that has occurred with this project.
For me personally, the game enjoyed a wonderful ~2 years (approximately 6 seasons, starting from the third), and I would not regret the time spent in the game or the emotions I experienced. It was not without reason considered the best Battle Royale in its prime, but I think that over time most people began to form a persistent impression that Respawn took a radically wrong direction in its development.
  • Absolutely clunky characters that do not organically fit into the game.
  • Constant weapon rebalancing, which only leads to greater breakages.
  • A lack of content in the form of temporary events, player rewards, etc.
  • An incredible number of cheaters in the game, despite their periodic waves of bans.
  • Absolutely broken, awful, wooden game servers that sometimes simply prevent you from playing.
  • Instead of adding new maps to the game, the old ones are destroyed and reworked in a style of “This season we made a few more cracks in the terrain and removed/replaced your favorite locations; next season we’ll do the same, stay with us, hope you like it!”
And this is only part of the most obvious and glaring problems of this game, which are hard to ignore while watching the developers directly tell you that they want your money without giving anything in return. With such a policy, it is hard to compete with other live service games in this niche, but looking at the decisions of the last few years, they are hardly interested in competition. EA Games is excellent at sucking money out of already dead projects, sometimes prodding their corpse with a stick.
If nothing changes over the years, the project will remain only a good memory for veteran players.

At the moment, the game does not even deserve a rating.
