A very old N64 title from back when I was just a kid and always wanted to own and beat it like the older kids. You play as an indian guy with a bow and knife killing dudes with guns, dinosaurs, and other things I would rather not spoil. Simple concept but if you are overly reckless could easily become frustrating. Good weapon variety for a game of its age as well as enemy variety too. Very much enjoyed playing it all the way through all these years later. Achievement hunters beware. Turok:Treasure hunter achievement MUST be saved and overwritten in the same save file for all the secret areas to count. Don't do what I did and have to do it all over again.

I never got to play Turok when I was younger; but as a kid, I always heard about it and saw it in magazines. Fast forward years later and I bought the game on Steam, but I had still put it off because I was mostly playing fighting games at that time. Now here in 2025 finally diving into the remaster on Steam was like unlocking a long-awaited dream. The game's fierce, turbocharged action and immersive atmosphere hit me hard, even on my first playthrough. With crisp visuals, fluid movement, and a killer soundtrack that accentuates every intense moment, Turok proves that some games only get better with time. I played the game with the PC Soundtrack to experience as close as possible to what I would've experieneced on a PC in the 90s if I had this game back then, after that I did a second playthrough with the N64 music and I really enjoyed both soundtracks. The PC version sounds more dark and menacing, while the N64 version sounds more extravagant and lively. It's really up to you which soundtrack you prefer, I thought they were both amazing though, if they had the soundtrack for purchase here on Steam I would've bought it.

Now there are a few graphical glitches in this remaster, I'm not sure if they're in the original game but they didn't really bother me much, hopefully they'll update and patch the game to remove those issues. As a sidenote I tried the native Linux port and though it works, it seems the Windows version is more up-to-date so I just played that version through Proton and it worked fine with the updated features. This is an excellent remaster and besides those minor graphical glitches the game works properly just as intended. Nightdive Studios did a great job on this remaster and unlike many remasters that simply upscale textures, Turok Remastered refines the experience without losing its soul. The controls are tight, the visuals are sharp, and the gameplay seems to remain as exhilarating as ever. Also it seems they removed the infamous N64 fog. All in all this remaster of Turok isn’t just a nostalgia trip; it’s proof that some games are truly timeless. Whether you’re a veteran or a newcomer, this is an FPS experience that demands to be played.

Overall I'd give this game a 9.5/10, most likely if they fix those minor graphical glitches then I'll probably play the game again and then give it a higher score.
