Steam Link now available on macOS
The Steam Link app is now available on macOS and can be downloaded directly from the App Store:

Steam Link may be on App Store; great! But it does not allow me to install "Steam Input" as the developer does not appear to "allow" as prompted.

My steam controller is connected via bluetooth, but is not recognized by the Steam Link App. Firmware version is May 30, 2018. Am I missing something obvious?

No, the Steam Controller isn't currently supported by the Steam Link app on desktop platforms, only on iOS, tvOS and Android.

And what advantage does that bring then? I can just install the Steam client? That has the same function?

How can I DISABLE its hotkey (CTRL + G)?
It's ruining my game.

I tested this out on a 2020 MacBook Pro with the M1 chip and all I'm getting is a black screen when streaming begins. I'm streaming from a Windows desktop computer wired on the same network. Otherwise, controller input from a DS4 is very responsive through the laptop and viewing from the desktop monitor. Anyone else experiencing this? I've messed around with trying different resolutions, Advanced Host Options, lowering the steam quality with no luck.

The Steam Link macOS app is working great for me, but I am having the same problem as Dreamer.

When I play a game in Steam Link and do not have a controller connected, an overlay appears at the top of the screen with the steam logo, large text "Streaming <name of game>" and smaller text "CTRL+G TO OPEN MENU". Hitting Ctrl+G does, in fact, open a menu, and shows the mouse cursor, but attempting to click on any item in that menu just dismisses the menu without doing anything else. Most importantly, this means it is impossible to hide the overlay itself, and it remains for the entire play session. The only workaround I have found is to plug in a controller, which causes the overlay to go away, and instead the controller overlay appears, which can be dismissed. Disconnecting/unplugging the controller causes the "CTRL+G TO OPEN MENU" overlay to come back.

Interestingly enough, the Steam Client streaming seems to have been updated with this exact same behavior. I get the exact same overlay regardless of whether I am using the Steam Link app to stream or the Steam Client.

I would be happy to provide any logs/screenshots to help clarify this and get the issue resolved.

Unable to stream games from another Mac running steam. Steam input driver update required. The installer for it runs on macOS but then asks to "allow" it in system preferences. THere's no prompt or option to allow it, so it doesn't run. Can't stream games from macOS to another Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV because of the Steam Input Drivers for macOS not working. It's been broken for quite some time now. Please fix it!

Stream opens fine but will not accept any input. The controller / m+kb work fine in the steam link menus but not once connected.

Would love to be able to disable the new UI. However, for those unable to click on the menu options -- move your mouse around until you see one of them highlighted with a blue bar. Seems like the menu response area is screwed up. I have to move my mouse to the far upper right of the screen for it to think I'm over the menu options.

I'm having this issue also on the same hardware.

not sure what, but steam link does not work as stated, at least for mac users. Hate to say it, but unless Valve puts some effort into supporting 64bit, at least for input so the app will work..........

I've got the exact same problem here with my Mac M1. It seems like there's no solution at all for this problem even though it has been an issue for many Mac users for a while now.
Very frustrating...please fix the steam input driver issue!

My major issue is the mouse area in the Steam Link client on my 2020 MBP 16" is like 50% of the area it should be, so I can't move the mouse to the edge of the host desktop. One thing I found is to not turn on "Change desktop resolution to match client" otherwise you'll get a 1920x978 client side view that ends up cutting the top 10% of the display off (it'll look like a black bar). I can only imagine that Valve hasn't hear of retina display scaling and that's the issue, but I'm not changing my scaling setting. Just fix the issue please Valve. This version of Steam Link is too close to being awesome.
