Steam Link

Steam Link

Windows Touch Support
Does this support the touch overlay in the same way as Android/iOS? I'm running it on an Acer tablet with Windows 10 (there's no model label on it and Windows just reports it as 'Tablet' - so I can't be more specific) and Steam Link works great with bluetooth controllers. However I can't seem to activate the touch overlay at all?

I have the same problem on my Surface Pro 9. Before you click on Start Playing it says "No Controller Detected" when running Steam Link on the SP. But when I run Steam Link on my Android phone it says "Touch Controller".

The reason I got Steam Link for windows instead of just streaming from the Steam client was because I figured that was the only way to get the touch controller on a windows tablet. What am I missing?

See my earlier question I posted here before I knew about Steam Link for Windows: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/3729575504105963187/

I'm also looking for a solution to this.

the release notes of Steam Link for Windows version 1.1.71 states:
Enabled support for touch controls in the controller settings

so i guess this should be a working feature. could any valve developer comment on this?

furthermore, the guide here states the following:

The Remote Play Touch Controller is also available to use on a Windows tablet running the Steam client when streaming from a host computer. To use it, open the Steam client on your tablet (client computer) -> press Steam on the menu bar -> Settings -> Remote Play -> Advanced Client options -> check mark Enable Touch Controls. The next time you stream a game to your tablet, the Touch Controls will appear on your tablet's screen. I recommend starting streams through Big Picture Mode.

so touch should also be possible with Remote Play. But the option is not showing up on my Surface Pro 6.

Try a 4-finger tap to bring up the menu and then click "Enable Touch Controls"
That worked, thanks! The only other thing is that once I stop streaming there's no way to close the app because there's no close button to tap on (that I can see) 😅

Does that allow multi-touch to be passed to the host?

No, it doesn't, it just enables the touch controller and touch menus.

Good point, I'll add a close button the TODO list. :)

I did make a suggestion remoting multi-touch at https://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream/discussions/3/4035850502440991980/

May I know where to see "Enable Touch Controls" in big picture mode mentioned in comment #3? I couldn't find it. Thanks a lot.
