Wired Link?
Wouldn't we be able to use quest headsets wired to your PC without using wifi? If so that would be amazing because since I use intel integrated graphics I can't connect it to the oculus app and *then* to SteamVR.

This would be super useful for us in our research lab. Our data visualization software relies on SteamVR, so Steam Link is a welcome alternative for more directly accessing our software from a Quest. However, the university wifi is not reliable, so a cabled option would be essential.

Wired mode would be great. I know the Meta link and ALVR (with a small tweak) can do wired of course and since Steamlink Desktop supports wired connections adding support for the usb link cable would be pretty easy to do
please add wired support :)
You got my support!

Same here, nothing beats wired in my opinion and they can very easily implement it!
would be great
Hi,
Thanks for the post - unfortunately the quest headsets do not expose the appropriate android interfaces to make it possible for third party apps to communicate through USB in the required way to get this working - So right now, there aren't plans to support this.

However, if things change in the future, we'll be sure to re-evaluate and let you know.
Thanks.

All of this is 100% false. Stop lying to folks.
YES! the only way I can actually play PCVR is through the new steamlink vr, however my wifi is ♥♥♥♥ so it runs like garbage. Having a wired option would be a dream come true.

If you have a Quest, then you should know that it does not. The wired Quest Link is actually quite good as it uses USB 3.0 to transmit gameplay footage to the headset and headset position and controller information to the computer. If you had a Quest, you'd be quite amazed by it. USB is plenty fast to transmit crisp and clear footage with 0 lag.

The amount of misinformation here is disappointing.
Oculus link allows you to use a usb 3.0 cable to connect a Quest 2 or Quest 3 to your computer to stream VR. You have to allow permissions on the quest 2 to connect to your machine, open Oculus link and then open steam from your mirrored desktop.
QUEST AIR LINK and STEAM LINK are different. They work over wifi and require your computer to be connected via Ethernet (wired) to your router. They won't even open unless you meet all the criteria.
The reason I know this (and I know certain people are making stuff up) is that I just bought the quest 2 for $249 on amazon and a 16ft USB 3.0 cable so I could mess with it. Yes, It does work. It's a pain, but it works.

The Defensive Butcher was 100% right.
