i wasn't around when the first final fantasy game was released, but playing the remastered version still resonated with me. from features such as being able to adjust the walking speed, a simplified UI, option to quick save/save your game whenever you wish to, all the way to the polished soundtrack and pixel art, which was mostly left untouched. everything combined reminded me of the days when i had bootleg catridges and a famiclone my mom got at a random chinatown department store back in 2007-2008 lol

good pixel art is timeless. i was reading an interview with kazuko shibuya (one of the original pixel artists on this project), where she spoke about being overjoyed to revisit her old work. i can only imagine how meaningful that must be for visual artists; coming back to a project that marked a major milestone in their careers 30+ years later. they've incorporated yoshitaka amano's original illustrations, who is another artist i have great admiration for.

good little game, can be repetitive at times especially when you are level grinding but take it lightly. it should be taken lightly, it is supposed to be fun!

Victory music is banging, beautiful remaster of the original NES JRPG. As a non-JRPG enjoyer, I enjoyed this game. Thanks for coming to my ted talk

If you don't mind old-school systems, bland world and no interesting characters to speak of - go ahead.
