Just me, or did the sheer number of side quests kinda ruin the game?
In these types of games, I typically just do a handful of side quests before a main mission so that the 100% grind isn't too bad later on. Mostly 3 before each quest, although it typically ended up being however many I felt like doing. Too bad that I didn't know that there were about 28 main missions and about 200 SIDEQUESTS. I got to the final mission and still had like 75 to clear up, so I ended up going into the most climatic point of the game to be wondering who the ♥♥♥♥ any of the people were. Took a pretty good story and kinda messed it up imo. For the most part, the side quests were fun, but they kinda felt repetitive and life-less. The 4 romance character's storys were fun to go through, along with other various side characters (except Claire. Such a pain in the ass to always have them screaming at me over the counter when I didn't even go over to them).

Now for the person who will meat-ride the game from hell and back, the story is good and the game is good. It is just frustrating how it seemed like the main story took the back seat during the production briefs.

Anyone else feel the same?

Disagree. I really enjoyed the amount of content. Some things could get slightly repetitive but i split them up kind of like you said and had no issues. id do some gigs, side quests and ncpd missions and then a real story mission or two. I just took my time and didnt burn my self out grinding them over and over to get through them.
Nope for me, and it didn't "ruin" it, but made it much less fun that it could have been, it was the fact that I couldn't abandon the main quest and mainly Johnny.

Ironically, the entire story is about "abandoning" Johnny, but I know what you mean and fully agree to it. While some of the engrams comments may be required to proceed with the story, I would appreciate if the devs would have provided more options to take the pills (and let them last for longer).

The vast majority of the quests has no particular meaning and basically serves as XP, resource and equipment farming. Once you have reached lvl 60, collected your skill shards, have your perfect gear together and upgraded it to your heart´s content, you can basically stomp over NC and check what monster you have created. It can be fun though.
Unfortunately once you get there, you are way too OP to be challenged by the side quests as you are designed to face Adam on very hard and in comparison to him, the side quests feel more like being pesticide control.
Side quests are great. Cuz i can actualy play them. While main quests are mostly just watching stuff happens with minimum gameplay.

Nope, I enjoyed them being there. Added more to the world imo.
I play them when I feel like it. I skip them when I feel like it.

There's a difference between story sidequests and busy work sidequests.

The story sidequests add things to the game for me. They're nicely crafted.

There are far more busy work events, but I don't feel like they pulled much away from development because they're not meticulous. I found it easy to skip these after I had finished them. Every game of this scope has them. Many games of lesser scope have them, too.

I disagree....................YOU decide how many side quests you want to do. Do as many or as few as you choose. How much more freedom of choice would you like ?
Nah, for me its the opposite.

I actually think its a pretty ingenious design.

The base main quest is pretty short. So if you want you can just stick to that and finish the game. And if you like it you can keep on playing, do all the side quests, and unlock additional content and addition endings. But you dont have to.

I wish this would become the standard for open world rpgs.

Sidequests for the win. You can even ignore the main story after watson lockdown ends and have a lot of fun.
Just ignore them, if you think they ruin your game.
It's just at odds with the main story. You have limited time before the relic kills you but feel free to spend a month doing side jobs.

I just wish there were more ways to open up the content outside Watson, if you refuse to advance the Main Quest. I can escape Watson, but most of the scripted content I'll never see. And I'm ok with that as long as I don't have to suffer through all those annoying cut-scenes and Johnny again.

Time and CP77... No matter how urgent the calls of Panam or Judy may sound, you can actually go and see them whenever it is convenient. Evelyn will not be rotten, Saul not butchered for implants, the Basilisk transport will wait as long as you like and the Raffens will not attack before you have completed your training in it. And yes, V will live on and on and on...
In essence, you can conclude that there is the REAL secret ending. The ending where V simply does meet the Arasaka witch and therefore becomes immortal. The ending of a real post modern fairy tale.
you not supposed to do any thing you dont want to do . this why its open world game . if its bother you can turn off icons of side quests if you dont feel like doing them all . i love when there is a lot of content in a game since it means i can do more thna one run since i cant do it all

Ok I don't want to put the chip in my head. I want Jackie to try it first.
