I know there are people who add a ton of cosmetic mods for characters and go around using the camera mode or just walk around in 3rd person while going around the city.
The game is still enjoyable even if character customization doesn't really matter
The reason why is because it does play a canon importance in my own imagination, almost in a similar way it does for people who play the table top RPG it's based off of.
I would have loved to have seen more of my character in 3rd person cut scenes, sure, but I remain in full support of playing it in 1st person.
I wouldn't be at all offended if CDPR actually managed to make it optional for those who really want it, however.
It wouldn't hurt a soul if it was optional and beautifully done. I'd probably switch back and forth every now and then just to see my character walk from a distance and see him or her in their cool new outfits.
You know what would have been cool? If whenever V jumped in to dance in any club or outdoor rave, you can pan out and actually watch him/her dance from a distance and have her bust moves from button prompts. lol I get super dizzy when I dance in 1st person view. @_@
Same with romance hangouts. It would be awesome if I could pan out and watch my female Corpo V lovingly stare at River, rather than me being forced to be all up close and personal in his face like "whoa dude, back off a little, I don't swing that way, but she does." lmao.
Let's hope they can make it an option in the next game. I know a lot of people would be super happy, just because 1st person games can make them nauseous.
game really needed 3rd person for walking around ect. gona find a mod for that
How often do you see yourself in day to day life? Beyond looking in mirror's and reflections, you can look down just as you can as V. There's no 3rd person mode in reality, but most still care about what they wear and how they look.
Now that i'd like.
The attention to detail they went into on clothing and body stuff, and then to almost never see it outside of 3rd person in a car/on a bike is a little odd....
100% agree with all of this (including interactions with River, who ain't my favorite character to begin with).
1st person gaming improves immersion, thereby improving emotion. I would not have minded more third person cutscenes, but first person really gets into the head and heart of a story-- especially because other NPCs and enemies and allies all look you directly in the eye. No other game has that eye contact down as eerily and perfectly as Cyberpunk.
Sometimes it's a bit unnerving and disarming when a passing NPC on the sidewalk catches your eye directly and keeps it moving. Or the way Panam stares at you with that smoky, feral glare, especially after a few drinks: she wants you but it's gonna be on her terms only, buddy. Or the way Judy gazes at you with teary longing and hesitation: she wants you but doesn't want to get hurt again. We'd miss all these gut emotional connections without the eye contact of first person.
part of it is the differences between them.
like, Valerie (my main V, who has the most of 'me' in her) looks like E3 V from 2018, but with light green eyes and the hair is blue not red. plus she is pale as milk lol (as i'm a pasty little screen goblin lmao) and when i get on a bike, i can watch her drive
her Bro, Vincent looks like the MascV on the box, but he prefers the dusty nomad style to her silver streetkid kistch.
and like a lot of folks, i would have loved an unmodded 3rd person. unlike a lot, i would be happy with just 3rd for walking, sitting and standing.
(ie, it cuts right back to 1st the moment you do anything but walk/talk or stand. so fighting, hacking, scanning ect, it goes 1st person)
mainly because that way, i might be able to walk around the city in 3rd person and enjoy it a little more.
yeah, i do still enjoy walking about NC.
but 3rd person works better for me in games than 1st due to vertigo and dizzyness (still)
i can put up with it more in cyberpunk, but it still takes its toll eventually.
i'd love to do 3rd person tourist vids that way lol (tho i'd probably need a better vid card)
My Veronica is a bit like that.
Nothing drastic in the hair/face department tho.
It's more clothing and personality.
She starts out in her Corpo's gear, learning to get by with her best choom Jackie.
A couple of gigs (the pickup, going into Dogtown) she dresses down and out style to blend in.
But generally, she's a suit jacket type at the start.
Then, after the heist goes bad, she starts to loose it.
(She was a bit crackers after loosing the job in counter-intel, but loosing Jackie broke her)
It starts with some street gear. That shiny red jacket Vik gave her....then some red exo-jack boots...
A matching, metallic red lighted Netrunner Suit next and before long, she's not Veronica any more...
She's the Red Ravager lol. She goes full superhero, tho maybe a bit closer to supervillain?
She starts out only flatlining gangoons. Corpo's get knocked out...but slowly as time goes on, she just goes full on 'kill em all, let the archeologists sort em out'
Unless the gig requires a live one.
It's a slow(ish) decent into vigilante'ism, with Johnny along for the ride lol.
What I like is that the clothing you loot varies from playthrough to playthrough. At least the stuff that is not scripted. So sometimes V is more ladylike, sometimes a punk and sometimes a biker.
